A delegation of State ATM Corporation headed by Director General Igor Moiseenko visited Baku on 18 February.

As part of the visit, the Russian delegation held a meeting with Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Control Department (AZANS) Director Farhan Guliyev. With the view of strengthening bilateral cooperation and implementing joint projects, the heads of Azeraeronavigation (AZANS) and State ATM Corporation signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The meeting noted a growth in air traffic over the recent years, which necessitates cooperation between the two organisations to ensure safe and high-quality air navigation services.

The signing of the Memorandum will contribute to the long-term joint activities of the national air navigation service providers to develop and implement innovative technologies in air traffic management.

This Memorandum is a prime example of mutual support to ensure the safety of aircraft operations and enhance the quality of air navigation services. It will also allow us to implement international airspace efficiency requirements in a flexible manner, Farhan Guliyev said.

It is worth mentioning that close cooperation and exchange of experience with neighbouring states play an important role in the implementation of the strategic goal of AZANS to ensure harmonization and integration with the global air navigation system through continuous technical and technological development.

We appreciate the strengthening of cooperation with our Azerbaijani colleagues. Such an approach will allow us to address global and local challenges that arise with the increase of air traffic in a cooperative and efficient way, Igor Moiseenko noted.

Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Control Department (AZANS) ensures aviation safety in the airspace of Azerbaijan. AZANS handles over 500 aircraft daily, of which 300 are overflights via Azerbaijans airspace.

State ATM Corporation was established by the Russian Government Decree to ensure the safety and regularity of civil aviation flights and to create a uniform economic system for air traffic management.
